About CNPS The California Native Plant Society , through its nearly 10,000 members and 34 regional chapters, has been working to represent the public's interest in protecting California's native plants and their habitats since 1965. Run by a professional staff and volunteers, CNPS is a non-profit organization that promotes the use of sound plant science in advocating for the conservation of natural areas throughout the State. The mission of CNPS is to conserve California native plants and their natural habitats, and increase understanding, appreciation, and horticultural use of native plants. Membership in our local chapter is included with membership in CNPS. About Our Riverside-San Bernardino Chapter The Riverside-San Bernardino chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) works to conserve diverse and fascinating native plants and habitats of through education, native plant gardening, science, advocacy, and land stewardship. Volunteers conduct educational hikes, slideshows, fieldtrips, botanical workshops and an annual plant sale. If you love our native plants, and want to learn more, we hope you will join us at some of our upcoming activities. Our meetings feature interesting speakers and are usually held on the third Saturday of the month at the Riverside-Corona Resource Conservation District. These programs are free to the public and you don't have to be a member to attend. Our members range from students to professional scientists, gardeners, native habitat experts and people just interested in learning about our diverse flora. Some of our volunteers work on conservation projects and/or outreach events, such as Earth Day and California Native Plant Week in April. Our chapter is expansive and includes all of the greater Inland Empire of Riverside and southwestern San Bernardino Counties, including the San Bernardino, San Jacinto and portions of the Santa Ana mountains, and the desert region of Riverside County.
